The Nobleboro man who led a Damariscotta Police officer on a high-speed chase last fall will serve 60 days in jail and two years of probation.
Cody Harwin, 21, pleaded guilty Feb. 6 to a felony charge of eluding an officer; misdemeanor charges of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, operating under the influence, fail to stop, remain, provide information and violating condition of release; and a civil charge of possession of marijuana.
Harwin, after threatening three men with a knife at a Biscay Road residence, fled the scene upon the arrival of former Damariscotta Police Officer Adam Lewis.
Lewis pursued Harwin a short distance down Biscay Road and onto a side road, where he arrested Harwin at gunpoint.
Three weeks later, while out on bail, Harwin hit another car and left the scene. A Damariscotta Police officer located a bleeding and intoxicated Harwin in a parking lot with a vehicle with significant body damage and two flat tires.
Harwin, at the time of his second arrest, tested positive for marijuana and oxycodone and possessed a small amount of marijuana, leading to additional charges.
Harwin, in addition to the jail sentence and probation, must pay $805 in fines and wait out a 90-day suspension of his driver’s license.
His probation conditions forbid alcohol use, allow random search and testing for alcohol, drugs and weapons and require him to complete substance abuse treatment. They also forbid him to have contact with the three men he threatened.
