Lincoln County will still endure a “long duration” snow event, but the forecast impact of that storm has been reduced, according to the latest bulletin from the National Weather Service.
Light to moderate snowfall is forecast to continue, but a forecast for the possibility of heavier snowfall Sunday night into Monday has been withdrawn. Still, the NWS advises that snowfall, “will add up over the course of a few days, with the potential of around a foot in some areas.”
The NWS has also more clearly defined an end to the event, now forecast for Tuesday at 6 a.m.
Temps are still forecast to stay well below freezing during the entire event, ranging from the upper teens to the lower single digits, according to forecasts.
Wind will probably not be a significant factor for this event, sustained from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph, according to the NWS.
A winter storm watch issued Friday afternoon was downgraded to a winter weather advisory on Sunday. The advisory is in effect until Tuesday at 6 a.m., according to the NWS.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it is obtained.
