Updated 12/21 at 11:30 a.m. — Winter Storm Watch upgraded to Ice Storm Warning.
Conditions are coming together for Sunday that could bring over half an inch of ice accumulation to Lincoln County, according to the latest bulletin from the National Weather Service.
Warm, moist air moving in aloft will create the high probability for rainfall which will then encounter subfreezing temps in place as it falls to ground level, leaving a coat of ice, according to meteorologists. This combination of conditions will be most prevalent from Saturday night, with ground level low temps in the upper 20’s; through Sunday with daytime high temps just above the freeze mark, according to forecasts.
Lincoln County is presently under an Ice Storm Warning issued by the NWS in regard to this event. The Ice Storm Warning is in effect until Monday morning at 7 a.m., according to the NWS.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it is obtained.
