The National Weather Service has issued an unusual advisory for a, “long duration snow event to affect (the) region Saturday night through at least Monday.” According to the NWS, Lincoln County won’t see a singular period of intense snowfall, but instead will see a long period of “light to moderate” snowfall, “that will add up over the course of a few days, potentially around a foot in some areas.”
The light to moderate snowfall is forecast to begin late Saturday night and continue on a steady basis through Sunday night, when the possibility of heavier snowfall through Monday begins, according to the NWS.
Temps are forecast to stay well below freezing during the entire event, ranging from the upper teens to the lower single digits, according to forecasts.
Wind may be a factor, sustained from the northeast at 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 mph, according to the NWS.
A winter storm watch issued Friday afternoon will likely be upgraded to a winter storm warning on Saturday. The watch period begins late Saturday night and is in effect until Monday evening, according to the NWS.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it is obtained.
