The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Watch Christmas morning advising that while the holiday itself may have been less than white with snowfall, conditions are forecast to change soon.
The Winter Storm Watch warns of a weather front forecast to bring snowfall and some mixed precipitation to Lincoln County beginning Wednesday evening and continuing into Thursday night.
Snowfall accumulations are forecast in the 6-inch range for inland areas, while mixed precipitation will mean less accumulation (and less accumulation that is able to remain on the ground) for coastal areas and peninsulas, according to the NWS.
The present timing and track of the storm indicates the heaviest snowfall will arrive throughout Lincoln County Thursday mid-day and then change over to mixed precipitation on the coast just in time for the evening commute, according to forecasts.
However that track is subject to change, so The Lincoln County News will continue to monitor the progress of this event, and post any additional information here as soon as it is obtained… And a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of our readers from all of our staff!
