The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch in advance of an approaching storm due to hit Lincoln County beginning Weds. morning.
Snowfall should begin in the morning hours then change over to rain and sleet as temps climb during the daytime hours. The storm’s effects are forecast to continue into the evening commute, but the precipitation is forecast to become lighter. Up to four to eight inches of snowfall is forecast to accumulate before the changeover to rain, according to the NWS.
The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 9 a.m. Weds. morning through 1 a.m. Thurs. morning, according to the NWS.
Kimberly White-Kaiser of the Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency advised that her department is “gearing up and making provisions for the storm.”
At 3:18 p.m. on Tues., the Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) issued a general statement regarding coming storm.
“The NWS has advised us to anticipate conditions ranging from potential coastal flooding and high winds, to sleet, freezing rain and moderate snowfall inland,” MEMA Director Rob McAleer said. “We fully, expect driving conditions to be a challenge tomorrow (Weds.) and high winds and heavy snow may result in power outages.”
