A bulletin from the National Weather Service has advised the storm that passed through Lincoln County on Wednesday will be of shorter duration than forecast. The original forecast called for a Winter Weather Advisory to remain in effect until 3 p.m. on Thursday. The bulletin, issued at 3:12 p.m. on Wednesday, now has the Winter Weather Advisory ending at 6 a.m. on Thursday morning.
The bulletin is just the latest change in an ever-changing forecast regarding this particular storm. Its arrival came later than forecast, and snowfall accumulation forecasts continue to trend lower. Presently the accumulation forecast is holding at 3 to 5 inches. However, the actual accumulation may be reduced due to rainfall in some areas.
Lincoln County should see every type of precipitation this storm has to offer, with inland areas seeing mostly snow and peninsulas seeing mostly rain, according to forecasts. Areas in the central county along the Rt. 1 corridor are likely to see an ever-changing melange of winter weather, with the greatest possibility of accumulating snowfall during the overnight hours on Wednesday, according to forecasts.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it is obtained.
