The National Weather Service (NWS) has upgraded the advisory status for Lincoln County from a Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning regarding a weather front that is forecast to bring snowfall to the area beginning Thursday morning and then continue into the evening hours as either snow, sleet or rainfall depending on what part of the county you’re in and what direction the weather tracks.
A Winter Storm Warning means that winter storm conditions are either occurring or expected, according o the NWS.
The event is forecast to begin the early morning hours of Thursday as snowfall accumulating in the 2 to 4-inch range begins to settle into Lincoln County by morning, according to the NWS. Continued snowfall, heavy at times, is forecast through the daylight and into the evening hours of Thursday, according to the NWS. The Thursday evening commute may be adversely affected by daytime snowfall combined with rain and ice along the coast, according to forecasts.
Total snowfall accumulations are presently forecast at 4 to 8 inches on the coast and 8 to 12 inches for inland areas of Lincoln County, according to the NWS.
