A Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service at 2:55 p.m. on Sunday warns that Lincoln County residents may see more power outages as a storm brings mixed precipitation to the area during the overnight hours.
Hopefully, Lincoln County’s proximity to the coast will keep temps warm enough to bring more rain than ice. The present forecast calls for precipitation to begin as freezing rain around midnight with temps climbing past the freeze mark before sunrise on Monday. Lincoln County should continue to see rainfall into the afternoon hours of Monday with high temps climbing into the mid 40’s, according to forecasters.
However, any melt or additional rainfall will quickly freeze up after nightfall on Monday as temps slide into the mid 20’s overnight and keep right on sliding into the teens and single digits on Tuesday. Subfreezing high temps stay in the weather outlook through Friday, according to forecasters.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. on Sunday to 3 a.m. on Monday.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it is obtained.
