The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory that warns of increasingly higher winds into Sunday afternoon.
Winds are forecast to increase during Sunday afternoon to a sustained velocity of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up 50 mph. Winds of this velocity are expected to bring down trees and limbs, causing power outages and other damage. Drivers of high profile vehicles may want to stay off the road or exercise due caution if taking to the road, according to the NWS advisory.
The combination of high winds and unseasonably low temperatures also makes for dangerous wind chill, according to the NWS advisory. Daytime temps in the mid-20’s plummet into the 8- to 9-degree wind chill range, and nighttime temps forecast for high teens will slide into the 2- to 3-degree range. Any exposed skin could suffer frostbite in very short amount of time, so even thought it looks sunny out your window, it may be wise to dress for a mid-winter freeze.
