Even as heavy, wet snowflakes were beginning to fall on Lincoln County Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a bulletin replacing a Winter Storm Watch with a Winter Weather Advisory, one step down on the NWS alert progression. The latest bulletin calls for mixed precipitation into Saturday night to develop through the overnight hours into steady snowfall continuing through Sunday, according to the NWS.
The weather comes courtesy of two systems, one coming from the south that will affect the area first and the second coming from the west, affecting the area on Sunday, according to forecasters.
The snowfall type is forecast to be wet and heavy. Total snowfall accumulation for this event has been reduced to 3 to 5 inches from an original forecast of 6 to 10 inches, according to the NWS.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the NWS.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information here as soon as it becomes available.
