One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a collision of a hatchback and a van at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 27 in Edgecomb the afternoon of Saturday, July 7.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy Neil Genthner, the individual was taken to LincolnHealth’s Miles Campus in Damariscotta. The person’s identity was not immediately available.
Genthner said the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The GMC van was entering Route 1 from Route 27 and the Ford hatchback was going north on Route 1 at the time of the incident. The van came to rest in the southbound ditch.
The hatchback had an Outward Bound logo on it. The educational nonprofit operates various programs in Maine, including the Camden-based Hurricane Island Outward Bound School.
Genthner said Route 1 was temporarily shut down as the vehicles were removed.
Lincoln County Communications dispatched the Edgecomb Fire Department shortly after 3:30 p.m. The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
