A Wiscasset man was transported to a local hospital after a car struck his motorcycle in Edgecomb Tuesday, Sept. 1.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy 1st Class Mark Bridgham, Scott Delano, 51, of Wiscasset, was injured when Philip McCormack, 53, of Freeport, attempted a left turn onto Route 1 from Eddy Road. McCormick’s 2003 Mini Cooper struck Delano’s 2003 Harley-Davidson shortly before 2 p.m. Delano was northbound on Route 1 at the time of the accident.
Bridgham said McCormack failed to yield to traffic and speed was not a factor in the crash.
The Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service transported Delano to LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta for “unknown head injuries,” Bridgham said. Delano was not wearing a helmet. Delano was treated and released according to hospital personnel.
McCormick’s 2003 Mini Cooper sustained “disabling damage” to the driver’s side of the vehicle, Bridgham said. McCormack was wearing his seat belt.
The Edgecomb Fire Department assisted with traffic control at the accident scene on the Edgecomb side of the Donald E. Davey Bridge. The Wiscasset Ambulance Service also responded.
