Three men from Manchester, N.H. are facing charges related to an alleged armed home invasion in Waldoboro in March, two of whom have been arrested while the other
remains at large, according to Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde.
According to Labombarde, Rafael Carpio, 26, Sergio Carpio, 34, and Miguel Carpio, 30, allegedly entered a home on Ralph Wink Road in Waldoboro on March 9,
held the adult male homeowner at gunpoint, and demanded cash and prescription drugs.
The men allegedly zip-tied the homeowner’s hands and feet, stole $2,000 in cash, prescription drugs, and a machete, and left the home, Labombarde said.
The alleged victim was acquainted with one of the men, and police believe the local man was specifically targeted, according to Labombarde.
“This was not a random thing,” Labombarde said.
The homeowner was later found by a neighbor, according to Labombarde.
Police believe the three Carpio men are related but were unsure of the specific relationships.
Waldoboro Police Department obtained arrest warrants on April 8 for all three men on charges of robbery, class A, burglary, class B, and criminal restraint,
class D, Labombarde said.
All three men were indicted by grand jury in Lincoln County Unified Criminal Court on May 12 on the above charges. All three were also indicted for class B
theft by unauthorized taking.
Rafael Carpio and Sergio Carpio were both arrested in New Hampshire and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail on May 28, and each are being held in lieu
of $10,000 cash bail, according to Labombarde.
Miguel Carpio remains at large, according to Labombarde.
Sergio Carpio’s defense attorney, Jonathan Handelman, and Rafael Carpio’s attorney, Jeremy Pratt, both had no comment.
