After 11 years on State Rt. 32 in Round Pond, Peapod Jewelry has relocated to U.S. Rt. 1 in Edgecomb.
The original gallery was located in a one-car garage on the property of the owner and designer, Ronna Lugosch. “I loved my little gallery and it was very convenient for me since our home was there. But the space could only be seasonal and I dreamed of a location where we could reach more people year ’round,” Lugosch said.
Last summer the designer noticed the Chef’s Kitchen, a building previously owned by Roger Bintliff was on the market and she decided to inquire about it. It took a while, but by March of this year she was in negotiations with the owners.
On May 15 the sale was final and interior work began. For the next six weeks the staff of Peapod worked with others to make the dream a reality.
On July 1 the business opened with a ribbon cutting attended by about 40 people. “A lot of people are asking me how it feels to drive to work,” she said.
Lugosch admits it is a change and will take some getting used to, but she credits her husband Emile, her excellent staff, contractors and friends for making things go smoothly. She also said her positive feelings for the beauty of the space and the convenient layout override any reservations she may have.
Unlike the Round Pond location, which is now closed, the new location has the workshop, gallery and office all under one roof. Visitors can even view the jewelry being made through a glass window into the workshop.
