The Pemaquid Watershed Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce that PWA has received a $15,000 grant from the Maine Land Trust Excellence Program or MLTEP.
MLTEP is a joint project of Maine Coast Heritage Trust and the Land Trust Alliance and is the first of its kind nationally. It is made possible through a generous contribution from the Pew Charitable Trusts and private donors.
The purpose of the grant program is to support and advance the operational quality and sustainability of land trusts in Maine as measured by implementation of Land Trust Standards and Practices.
Over the course of this year, PWA will benefit from an intensive program of individualized coaching, training, and consultant services to help the organization accomplish goals prioritized by a comprehensive organizational evaluation that will be completed in April.
“This grant award is a significant accolade, and we are honored and appreciative,” said PWA President Peggy Drake. “The Land Trust Excellence Program is exciting, enlightening, and empowering, and assuredly will move PWA to an even higher level of efficiency and effectiveness,” she said.
Pemaquid Watershed Association was established in 1966 and is dedicated to conserving the natural resources of the Pemaquid Peninsula through land and water stewardship and education. For more information on PWA, visit http://www.pemaquidwatershed.org.
