Cucumbers and veggies beware. The sixth annual Pickle-Palooza contest returns to the Damariscotta River Grill on Sun., Sept. 30 at 3 p.m.
There will be four categories for judging this year: Pickles, Relish, Bread and Butter, and Specialty Pickled Items.
In addition to bragging rights for the year, $25 gift certificates for each category and a special victory memento will be awarded by Jean Kerrigan, “Grand Poobah of the Pickle.”
Right after the contest complimentary Pickle Palooza foods prepared by 2010 Maine Chef Of The Year, Rick Hirsch will be served. Samples from the winning entries will also be available. All entries must be dropped off at the Grill no later than 2 p.m. Sun., Sept. 30 to be considered.
The contest was founded by Bobby Whear.
