Four suspects were brought in just hours after a break-in at the Village Store on Center Street in Nobleboro on Jan. 17.
Police responded to an alarm that went off at the store at around 8:38 p.m. Through “a combination of good old police work and technology,” police were able to locate the suspects, one adult and three juveniles, within a few hours, said Lt. Rand Maker with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
Jeremy Ketcham, 19, of South Bristol was arrested and charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief. A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old from Damariscotta were released to their parents, and a 17-year-old from Bristol was brought to Long Creek Juvenile Holding Facility.
Two of the juveniles were found using thermal imaging in the woods near a vehicle in which they were allegedly transporting alcohol stolen from the store, Maker said.
Police believe the purpose of the robbery was to steal alcohol. The alcohol has been recovered and nothing else appears to be missing, Maker said. A store window was broken during the incident, Maker said.
There was about $3000 in damage to the window – a four by eight foot plate glass window – and snack foods that were full of broken glass, said Ken Yereance, the storeowner.
“I guess things like this happen all the time,” Yereance said. “I’ve had three or four break-ins over the years, but this is the worst of them.”
