A Newcastle man faces a criminal charge after allegedly destroying holiday decorations in downtown Damariscotta late Dec. 4.
Vern Bosworth Jr., 51, of Newcastle, faces a charge of criminal mischief, a class D misdemeanor.
Damariscotta Police Officer Richard Alexander received an anonymous tip about someone “ripping off” decorations in front of Stars Jewelry at about 11:30 p.m., a department spokesman said.
Alexander located an allegedly intoxicated Bosworth a short distance away, across the Damariscotta-Newcastle bridge at Maritime Farms.
Alexander summonsed Bosworth and transported him to his residence.
