Police are investigating the shooting death of a young Wiscasset man in his home early this morning.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Wiscasset Police responded to a call of a shooting around midnight Monday at the Whippoorwill mobile home park off Rt. 27, where they found the body of 23 year-old Tyler Wyley.
According to Lt. Brian McDonough of the State Police Criminal Investigation Division One in Gray who is working with local law enforcement, there were a total of four people at the residence owned by Wyley. One of the witnesses was a house-mate of Wyley’s and two other people were visiting, McDonough said.
“At this point in the investigation, it doesn’t appear to be foul play,” McDonough said. “I think we have a good grasp of what happened.”
Police were at the scene for a couple of hours, he said, gathering evidence, taking video and photographic data and conducting interviews with witnesses. McDonough said it is too early in the investigation to determine whether or not a crime took place.
An autopsy has been scheduled for this afternoon. State Police spokesperson Steve McCausland said he expects to possibly have the results of the autopsy later in the day.
