State and federal authorities are currently searching for a career criminal who was last seen in Nobleboro June 3.
Wayne Collamore, 60, left a halfway house in Portland last Friday, May 28, rented a car and disappeared. Collamore was still in the custody of the U.S. Bureau of Prisons at the halfway house as part of his sentence.
Collamore was last seen Thursday afternoon when he abandoned the rental car near the Nobleboro Town Office and ran off on foot. An extensive search was conducted by more than a dozen federal, state, county and local law enforcement officers of the surrounding area.
The search went well into the night and is expected to resume at first light.
Collamore has numerous convictions for burglaries, robberies and weapons offenses. He has also been convicted of several escapes in the past. He is from the Bremen area and has family in Lincoln County.
Collamore is described as a 60 year old white male, 6’01”, 180 lbs, graying hair, hazel eyes with a moustache.
He was seen leaving the rental car wearing a brown button-down shirt, blue jeans and boat shoes. A short while later, a witness describes seeing Collamore wearing a light colored ball cap, gray sweatpants and a gray sweatshirt and he was carrying a plastic bag.
Collamore has a history of hiding in wooded areas before breaking into unoccupied homes or camps and stealing vehicles to make his escape.
Citizens are asked to ensure their homes and vehicles are locked at all times.
Collamore should be considered dangerous. Anyone who sees him is asked to immediately call 911 and do not confront or approach him. Anyone having general information concerning Collamore’s whereabouts is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 882-7332, the Maine State Police at 1-800-452-4664 or the U.S. Marshal’s Service at 632-7553.
