A 63-year-old Nobleboro man was badly beaten in the parking lot of the Hannaford Brothers Supermarket in Waldoboro on Jan. 19.
At around 5:30 p.m., the victim, whose name has not been released, was assaulted by two men, possibly in their 20s, after he and his assailants reportedly exchanged words about the assailant’s dark colored, full size pickup truck being parked illegally in a handicapped spot, according to information issued by the Waldoboro Police Department.
After beating the victim unconscious, the two men dragged him across the parking lot and placed him and his groceries into his car, taking with them a 30 pack of beer they stole from the victim, according to the press release.
The victim was brought to Miles Memorial Hospital where he was treated for injuries, including a cracked skull and brain hemorrhaging, said Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde. He was released from the hospital the next day, Labombarde said.
Due to a lack of witnesses in this case, the Waldoboro Police Dept. is seeking help from anyone in the community who may have witnessed or knows anything about the assault.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Lance Mitchell or Chief Bill Labombarde at 832-4500 or by emailing policechief@waldoboromaine.org.
