At noon today, Central Maine Power Company (CMP), a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, reports an estimated 42,000 customers were without power at midday after strong winds raked homes and businesses in its service area. That number includes 7608 customers in Lincoln County.
CMP crews are responding with assistance from Maine contractors who are providing line-workers and tree removal crews.
Reports of outages began this morning from communities in southern coastal areas and swelled quickly as high winds spread throughout central and southern Maine.
CMP will offer information on estimated restoration times once it is available.
