Lincoln County was down to only 456 power outages this morning, but that number climbed to over 2000 by mid morning, according to Central Maine Power. The 12:34 p.m. report from CMP put the number of current outages at 1178.
The surge in the number of outages is not only due to the additional overnight snowfall, but is also part of the repair process, according to CMP spokesperson John Carroll.
“As part of the restoration we’ll sometimes have to take a line out of service temporarily so that we can safely make repairs down the line in order to bring a larger service area back on line,” Carroll said.
On the positive side, Carroll reiterated an earlier projection from CMP: “We should be at zero outages by late tonight (Friday),” he said.
Outages in the county were in excess of 7000 this week due to the recent ice storm, with four of the county’s northernmost towns experiencing complete or nearly complete outages town wide.
