A young girl missing from Colorado may have been seen several times in Maine over the past several days, according to broadcast reports. Police are asking the public to keep an eye out for 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway and a light blue, mid-90s station wagon with “fancy,” five-spoke chrome wheels and Colorado plates. Any sightings of the girl or the vehicle in Lincoln County should be reported to the Lincoln County Communications Center at 563-3200 immediately.
A woman in Dexter reported to police that on Sunday she observed a girl who resembled Ridgeway, who has been missing under suspicious circumstances since Friday near her home in Westminster, Colorado, according to broadcast reports.
Dexter Police said similar reports were made in nearby Harmony during the same time period, according to broadcast reports.
Authorities in Maine have issued an alert to law enforcement to stop the car if they see it. Since the time of the sighting was several days ago, the vehicle and girl could be anywhere in the state, or may have left the area.
Police say Ridgeway’s mother and father are cooperating with investigators and neither is named as a person of interest, according to broadcast reports. Colorado police announced Wednesday evening that they now consider Ridgeway’s disappearance an abduction, according to a CNN report.
