A recount of the votes for select board in Waldoboro’s June 9 election has been requested by candidate Bob Butler and is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17 at 9 a.m., according to town officials.
Initial results placed Butler in third place in a race for two three-year seats on the board.
Butler received 353 votes, trailing Katie Winchenbach’s 360 votes and Abden Simmons’ 398 after the June 9 election, according to town documents. Incumbent candidate Ted Wooster received 269 votes.
Town Manager Linda-Jean Briggs was unsure of how much a recount of this size might cost.
“Traditionally we have not asked candidates [to pay for it]. The tradition in Waldoboro is we pay for it,” Briggs said.
Neither Butler nor Winchenbach could be reached for comment as of this posting.
