The drawbridge connecting Richmond and Dresden on Rt. 197 was closed to vehicle traffic while Dept. of Transportation employees undertook emergency repairs.
For about an hour and a half earlier this afternoon, the bridge was stuck in the open position. The bridge is currently in the closed position.
According to Randy Bodge, DOT Operations manager for Bridges, Region 2, one of four wedges that secures the bridge became sheared off and had to be replaced. Repairs were expected to be completed today, Bodge said.
The bridge was reopened to traffic about 4:45 p.m.
