Rising Tide Community Market welcomes the photography of Rachel Hamlin as their Art in the Café artist, now exhibited through March 31.
A wine tasting and reception is Fri., March 9 from 3-6 p.m.
For the past seven years Hamlin has worked as an art educator whose top priority is to help others to find a connection with the arts either within their own creative expressions, culture or personhood.
Hamlin believes photography is a great way to explore and express the inner-self.
Her photos on display were taken over the course of two Maine summers exploring the vast landscapes of Coastal Maine.
Monhegan Island, Vinalhaven, Boothbay Harbor and the Wiscasset waterfront are places where she tried to capture the simplistic beauty of Coastal Maine.
“I enjoy getting up close and personal with all that mother nature has to offer; the lens of the camera captures more detail than the naked eye: texture, vivid color, creatures frozen in time, light and shadow, sentiment, diverse perspectives and stoic landmarks,” she said.
She said, “Although summer seems far away, staring at these images can create an illusion of the hot summer sun shining on one’s face. Capturing and preserving the warmth of Maine’s abundant scenic interludes has been such a joyful endeavor to be cherished forever not only by me but by all who can appreciate the bond between art, nature and beauty.”
