A one-car rollover accident on Route 27 in Wiscasset has stopped traffic in both directions this morning. Traffic is currently being rerouted around the scene, which is close to, and north of, the Huntoon Hill Road intersection.
Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline said the accident followed a high speed chase that began on Main Street in Wiscasset. Cline said he attempted to stop the vehicle at the request of another agency.
Cline said the operator was wanted on several warrants and was operating the vehicle while his license was suspended.
The operator of the vehicle was transported from the scene for treatment of unknown injuries. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is performing an accident reconstruction.
