An Alna man rolled over his four-wheel-drive SUV on Route 1 in Newcastle this afternoon as a result of poor road conditions during the snowstorm.
Christopher L. Murphy, 70, was driving his 1992 Nissan Pathfinder up the southbound on-ramp to Route 1, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Collamore said.
Murphy accelerated to merge onto Route 1 and “due to slippery road conditions, he lost control,” Collamore said.
The vehicle rolled over onto its roof and back onto its wheels. The vehicle was totaled, Collamore said. Murphy was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The accident was one of several in the county since the storm began. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office advises motorists to stay off the roads if possible and use caution during the storm.
