Several members of the RSU 12 Board of Directors expressed concern at a report showing that 70 percent of the 6th grade in the RSU did not meet standards at their grade level in writing.
RSU 12 officials delivered the news to the board during the board’s May meeting, held at the Somerville School, May 10.
The report stems from of the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) test, and covers a three-year average between 2009-2012.
RSU 12 Supt. Greg Potter reminded the board that they were looking at one set of data, and that the board needs to put the RSU 12 results in the context of the state average.
RSU 12 Assistant Superintendent Patricia Watts will give a more detailed report showing individual schools, the number of students tested, and the state average, at the board’s next meeting, Thurs., June 14, at the Palermo School, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
