After less than two years on the job, RSU/MSAD 40 Supt. Francis Boynton has announced he will retire effective Aug. 31.
According to RSU/MSAD 40 School Board Chairman Bonnie Davis Micue, the board “respectfully” and “regretfully” voted to accept Boynton’s decision May 5.
“He brought strength and dedication to the district,” said Micue on May 6. “I wish him all manner of success and am glad he gets to dedicate more than 51 days of his life to something other than a job.”
The board hired Boynton, who has spent 37 years in the educational field, in January 2009.
Micue said the RSU/MSAD 40 board has not begun a search for his replacement but anticipates having the post filled before Boynton’s August retirement.
“We’re still somewhat reeling from his decision,” she said. “We’ll meet soon and begin the search process.”
