The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Maine District Office, AARP and the Women’s Business Center at Coastal Enterprises will celebrate National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day with a technology round-table / panel discussion, focusing on essential technology issues facing Maine’s small business owners and prospective entrepreneurs.
The event will be held on Tues., Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon at Coastal Enterprises, Inc. at 36 Water Street in Wiscasset.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for small business owners and those who are considering starting their own business, to see the vast array of technology and social media resources available to help assure their small business success,” said SBA Maine District Director Maurice Dubé. “This event will be a one-stop-shop for those interested in learning more about cyber security, developing websites and using social media to help their small businesses grow.”
Panel discussion with subject matter experts will include:
• Cyber security- protecting privacy and business information; presented by Matthew Gilbert of Coastal Enterprises, Inc.;
• Developing websites for an increasingly mobile market; presented by Eric Van Bok of Winter Orchard Graphics & Design; and
• Using social media (Facebook and LinkedIn) for business; presented by Lori Parham of AARP.
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and AARP have launched a strategic alliance to provide American entrepreneurs ages 50 and older with real-world, actionable information to start or grow a small business. Through the alliance, the two organizations have committed to train 100,000 “encore entrepreneurs” over the next year.
As part of meeting that goal, the SBA and AARP will host National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day Oct. 2.
