The Central Lincoln County School System (AOS #93) has selected Steven Bailey as the successor to outgoing Supt. Robert Bouchard.
An AOS #93 employee confirmed the decision April 4.
Bailey is the assistant superintendent of schools for the South Portland School Dept., according to the department’s website.
According to a brief profile on the website, Bailey began his career in education as a teacher of health, mathematics and physical education.
Bailey served as a principal of three schools – the Main Street School in Exeter, N.H., the John R. Graham School in Veazie and the Dora Small School in South Portland – before moving to the central office.
Bailey was the director of curriculum, instruction and assessment for the department before stepping into his present position.
Bouchard, who is retiring as Maine’s reigning Superintendent of the Year, was unavailable for comment.
Bailey did not immediately return a message left at his office.
A full story will follow online and in the April 7 print edition of The Lincoln County News.
(An earlier version of this article referred to Bailey as “a former assistant superintendent in South Portland…” Bailey currently holds the position.)
