Area schools and some businesses are closed as snow falls on Lincoln County, but no major incidents related to the snowstorm have been reported at the time of this posting, according to Heidi Leinonen of the Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency (LCEMA).
The only incidents so far have been the usual minor motor vehicle accidents as motorists make their annual adjustments for travel on snowy roadways.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued no storm watches or warnings for Lincoln County regarding this storm. Winter Weather Advisories were issued for areas south and west of Lincoln County on Sunday. Local skiers can look forward to great conditions as most of the snowfall accumulation is forecast for higher elevations, according to the NWS. However, those accumulations may be affected by the possibility of rainfall following this snow event, according to the NWS.
Locally, snowfall is forecast to taper off overnight on Monday with precipitation changing over to rainfall by Tuesday morning accompanied by blustery winds from the east-northeast, according to the NWS. Local accumulation is forecast to be 3 to 6 inches, according to the NWS.
