The second fatal traffic accident in Lincoln County this weekend has taken the life of a 55-year-old South Bristol man.
John Galloni was driving south on Rt. 129 south of Harrington Rd. at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sunday when he apparently lost control of his vehicle, crossed into the opposing lane of traffic and left the roadway, hitting several trees and a rock wall before rolling over at least once, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The first Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived at the scene less than 4 minutes after the incident was reported and determined that Galloni had died instantly.
Galloni was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the LCSO.
Blood samples will be obtained from Galloni by the Medical Examiners Office, however, the LCSO already believes both speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.
LCSO Deputies were at the scene for about three hours to obtain the information necessary to reconstruct and forensically map the crash. They were assisted by the Lincoln County Communication Center, South Bristol Fire Department, and the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service.
The LCSO investigation is continuing, with deputies planning to interview witnesses who may have information about where Galloni was in the hours before his death.
The Lincoln County News will continue to follow the progress of this event and post any additional information as soon as it becomes available.
