The Waldoboro Board of Selectmen voted on Sept. 27 to rescind an application for a quiet zone around the railroad crossing on Goshen Road.
The application was approved by the selectmen earlier this fall at the request of a resident who lives near the tracks. The quiet zone would have ordered trains approaching the crossing not to use their whistles.
The board rescinded the application after they received four letters from residents opposed to the quiet zone, they said. The original requester also called to retract the request and recommend that selectmen rescind the application.
