On the afternoon of Thursday, July 25, state Sen. Dana Dow, R-Waldoboro, presented Whitefield writer and longtime Lincoln County News columnist May Davidson a legislative sentiment in honor of her recent 90th birthday and the June publication of her new book, “Whatever It Takes: Seven Decades of True Love, Hard Work, and No Regrets,” from Islandport Press, islandportpress.com. The sentiment was co-sponsored by Rep. Chloe Maxmin, D-Nobleboro.
“It is my privilege to give this sentiment to such a distinguished citizen of Whitefield and the state of Maine for all your accomplishments, finally ending in a great book, which I anxiously wait to read,” said Dow to Davidson. “My regards and a privilege to meet you.”
“Receiving this sentiment from a Maine senator and representative brings me great joy, and I am deeply honored and humbled by such generous and kind recognition of my long life span,” said Davidson, who was born in Bremen on May 16, 1929. “Maine is my birthplace. Its profound beauty and its fine people are truly the base of my religion. This award is an example of why Maine is my ‘truth,’ and the source of love and inspiration that has carried me through my 90 years.”
