A Littleton, N.H. steeplejack, with the help of a Woolwich crane service, is removing the steeple of the Sheepscott Community Church on Sheepscot Road today.
As of 11:30 a.m., the spire of the church is on the ground and steeplejack Robert Morgan and his crew, along with J.R. Williams Crane Service Inc., plan to remove the rest of the structure this afternoon.
The steeple of the 188-year-old church needs repairs to address severe rot.
Sheepscott Community Church members refer to the 1825 building as the “hill church” to distinguish it from their “valley church” on The King’s Highway.
