On Whitefield’s annual town meeting day, Sat., March 21, the school will be the go-to place not only for voting but also for information on the town’s 200th birthday celebration.
Chris Stulz is spreading the word that the Bicentennial Committee is sponsoring a photo contest. Fliers detailing contest rules have been posted around town and they, along with a signup sheet, will be available in the hall adjoining the gym a week from Saturday.
Friends of Whitefield are invited to submit photos taken in 2008/2009. The theme of the contest will be “Everything Whitefield,” a photographic document of how the community looks in 2008/2009.

Mike Shaw will have souvenir caps, tote bags, aprons and T-shirts for sale, and there will be signup sheets for vendors who want to participate in Whitefield Days Aug. 7-9.
David Chase is developing a website on Bicentennial information at www.mainething.com/200/ and a full schedule of events is included in the annual town report.
At the Whitefield Historical Society’s table will be booklets containing some 50 photos of local scenes from its collection, and copies of the 2009 Bicentennial historic calendar will be available at a discount.
Steve McCormick, chairman of the board of selectmen, said access to the gym for referendum voting 8 a.m.-noon, as well as for the 2 p.m. floor meeting, will be through the double doors near the art room.
Bicentennial displays and an exhibit of plans for the proposed town office center will be in the hall next to the art room.
