Light snowfall ended in Lincoln County just after sunset on Weds., leaving 2-4 inches of accumulation, according to a Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS). Inland areas saw a higher accumulation than coastal areas and peninsulas, according to the NWS. Aside from the usual minor traffic accidents, no major incidents have been reported during the storm.
The Winter Storm Advisory went into effect at 3 a.m. and ended at 6 p.m. on Weds., according to NWS.
In contrast to the ice storm last week, the Weds. winter event left a scenic blanket of snow – instead of a wake of destruction and power failures.
This storm is the first of three expected to chug through Lincoln County, although forecasters are already starting to downplay the effect that a storm forecast for Fri. may have on the area. That storm may now slide further south and leave the area with a mere dusting of snowfall, according to forecasts. Another storm is forecast for Sun. into Mon.
The Lincoln County News website will continue to follow the progress of these weather events and post any additional information as soon as it becomes available.
