A Brewer woman was taken to LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta Feb. 25 with complaints of chest pain after an accident at the intersection of Routes 1 and 27 in Edgecomb, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Gilbert.
Stephanie Hamlin, 46, of Brewer, was operating a red Subaru Outback north on Route 27. As Hamlin was attempting to stop at the Route 1 intersection, her vehicle slid past the stop sign and into Route 1 traffic, striking a northbound silver Toyota Tacoma, Gilbert said.
Weather conditions (it was snowing) were a factor in the accident, and Hamlin was likely operating too fast for the conditions, Gilbert said.
The accident was reported shortly before 8 a.m.
The truck’s operator, Neil Larrabee, 35, of Wiscasset, was uninjured and was later able to drive his vehicle from the scene, Gilbert said.
Both operators were wearing seat belts, and Hamlin’s impact with the seat belt was likely the cause of her chest pain, Gilbert said.
Neither driver received a summons related to the accident, and both vehicles were insured, Gilbert said.
The Wiscasset Ambulance Service transported Hamlin to Miles.
Traffic was reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic on Route 1. Edgecomb Fire Department responded to the scene and provided traffic control.
