South Bristol is online.
The website (www.townofsouthbristol.com), the work of Laurie Herron of Damariscotta’s Royal River Graphics, has been in the works since November 2010.
The home page features a brief history of the town. A slideshow greets visitors with aerial photographs of Christmas Cove, The Gut and Rutherford Island and scenic shots of commercial and recreational boats mingling in the town’s waterways.
Elsewhere on the website, residents can find information about the town office and the Bristol/South Bristol Transfer Facility, as well as an exhaustive list of town officials, from the Board of Selectmen to the Alternate Plumbing Inspector.
A few small issues remain – the list of town officials includes outdated information and the links section contains only one operational link – but the site provides an effective means for residents to communicate with municipal government.
A survey via Google reveals only three remaining Lincoln County towns without websites: Alna, Jefferson and Somerville.
