Last week, a grand jury indicted the South Bristol lobsterman who allegedly threatened another lobsterman with a shotgun last November.
Gregory Lawson, 53, of South Bristol, faces felony charges of criminal threatening, reckless conduct and terrorizing.
According to the indictment, Lawson “did recklessly create a substantial risk of serious bodily injury to” the other lobsterman “with the use of a firearm against the person of” the other lobsterman.
Lawson also communicated to the victim “a threat to commit… a crime of violence dangerous to human life, murder,” according to the indictment.
At the time of Lawson’s arrest, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said the incident stemmed from a lobster gear-related conflict.
A Dec. 5, 2011 filing by Lawson’s defense attorney, John Markham, of Camden, painted the incident as an isolated one.
Lawson has no criminal history, according to the filing.
The lawyer also stated that Lawson did not aim the shotgun at anyone or anything and didn’t hit anything except the water where he did aim the weapon.
