South Bristol’s annual report has placed second in its population group and received the “Superior Award” in the 2012 Maine Municipal Association Municipal Report Competition.
“The judging panel commends the municipal officials of your community for producing this exemplary communication with your citizens,” Maine Municipal Association Executive Director Christopher G. Lockwood wrote in a letter to South Bristol Board of Selectmen Chairman Chris Plummer.
The association recognizes the top three reports in five population categories.
South Bristol’s 2011 annual report features a photograph of the 79-year-old swing bridge that connects the mainland to Rutherford Island with the caption “Still swinging after all these years.”
The report also features a detachable sheet with contact information for officials, hours of operation of municipal facilities, meeting times and other useful data.
The body of the 120-page book includes the annual town meeting warrant, property tax information and letters and reports from town and state officials and area nonprofits.
South Bristol administrative assistant Beverly Eugley compiled and organized the report.
