Norman St. Clair, of St. George, is in satisfactory condition at Maine Medical Center after sustaining injuries in a five-car collision in Newcastle Nov. 18.
St. Clair, who is the Newcastle postmaster, hit a guardrail and left the roadway. He was the only subject to suffer significant injuries, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Drake said.
The collision(s), which police blamed on black ice, took place at about 6:15 a.m. on the Damariscotta-Newcastle Rt. 1 bridge.
The Damariscotta Fire Dept. the Damariscotta Police Dept. also responded to the scene. Further information was unavailable at press time.
