The Central Maine Astronomical Society (CMAS) is holding its monthly Star Party on Sat., July 10 at the Brower Observatory in Whitefield from 8:30-11 p.m. All are welcome.
What’s a star party? It’s where telescope owners set them up for public viewing of the night sky. The observatory has a 16-inch telescope in a dome and numerous other scopes set up on site all for the public to view the heavens.
Need a refresher on the constellations? There will be members showing the constellations and giving some classical lore.
Ever seen a galaxy? Why not see two or three in one field of view?
A star party is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the night sky parents and children. There’s a lot to look at in the summer night sky.
Bring binoculars if available, or if needing help learning to use your telescope, bring it along.
For more star party information go to http://www.maineastro.com/star_party.html or call Colin Cassie 549-3338. Rain date is Sun., July 11.
