The next session of the Freshstart quit smoking program begins in March at the Picker Family Resource Center located on the Pen Bay Medical Center campus at 3 Glen Cove Drive in Rockport. All classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7 p.m.
The Freshstart program is designed to help people stop smoking in two weeks. This is a two-part process, stopping and staying stopped. Attendees will learn new techniques for ending their physical and psychological need to smoke.
Freshstart will provide concrete ways to handle two major obstacles: weight control and stress management. There are no gimmicks, meaningless group activities or busywork.
Thanks to a grant received from the Knox County Community Health Coalition, the Picker Center is pleased to offer these classes to the community free of charge. Freshstart can be the start to a new life without cigarettes. It is possible to be tobacco free forever.
