The Lincoln Academy Climate Action Club is a significant step closer to bringing a public restroom to the Biscay Pond beach.
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) notified club advisor Charlie Scimone Nov. 28 that it has selected the Club’s Watershed Protection Grant application for funding.
The Pemaquid Watershed Association is partnering with the Climate Action Club to secure the grant. Damariscotta owns the small beach, which is popular, especially with young families, in the summer months, and the Damariscotta Board of Selectmen supports the grant and project.
The next step is for the Climate Action Club to draft a project plan and arrange for a DEP official to inspect the site and talk to Climate Action Club members about the importance of watershed protection.
The state will reimburse the Club up to $1000 after the project is complete.
