Maine State Police are reconstructing a collision that took place late Thursday night, June 14, on Somerville Road in Somerville.
According to a press release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, LCSO and the Somerville Fire Department responded to the single-vehicle crash after receiving a 911 call. When they arrived, the vehicle was fully involved in flames. The driver was found dead inside the vehicle.
The press release said the vehicle had been northbound on Somerville Road when it left the roadway and struck a large tree.
At the direction of the State Medical Examiner’s Office, both the vehicle and its occupant were transported to the Maine State Police Crime Lab for identification.
The investigation is ongoing.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Whitefield and Jefferson fire departments also responded to the scene.
